The main novelty is the contest to explore “Challenge Island”, in which participants are required to explore several key landmarks, across one the paths to the interior of the island, to reach the Snow Lord Peak in its centre (conveniently marked as the “X” of the island).
Kriegsspiel is actually a training tool for junior officers of the Prussian Army, invented and published in the early 1800’s, right after the end of the Napoleonic Wars. That is where I purchased my copy of the 1824 edition of the Kriegsspiel rules. Recently I've become interested in the classic, 1824 Kriegsspiel rules. I know Too Fat Lardies prints a revised translation for PDF, but most KS games I've seen run are at the original battle scale, where units are battalions and half battalions. Importing the American Kriegsspiel map into the General Staff Wargaming System was a good beta test of the Map Editor. In this game each player can see their own pieces, but not those of their opponent. Richard Clarke of TooFatLardies announced today in the TFL Yahoo group that a full revision of the current army lists for Chain of Command will be undertaken over the next days and that an effort to cover the remaining war periods and theaters (Eastern Front 42-43???) will follow. Excellent news for CoC aficionados, in line with the interview at the Christmas Special stating that CoC materials What a Tanker! is a WWII tank combat miniatures game by Too Fat Lardies, a UK-based indie rules writing company.We (and multitudes world-wide) have played What a Tanker! a lot recently. It’s great fun! The rulebook comes with everything you need as long as you’ve got a gaming table and some miniatures to push around.
